MSI x NVIDIA Studio Broadcast Tutorial
Desktops
Artificial Intelligence has been gaining a lot of traction. NVIDIA has been invested in AI technology research for several years now, so you probably heard of RTX DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling). It can help gamers get an improved game experience and better image quality. Today, we are going to introduce another powerful tool that can help you stream smoothly without interruption. Please follow the instructions to set up the NVIDIA Studio Broadcast application.
Configure your video and audio devices in NVIDIA Studio Broadcast.
MSI Gaming Desktop already pre-loaded NVIDIA Studio driver so you can open the application directly. Type “NVIDIA Broadcast” in the search bar to find the application to open it.
The application offers 3 types of hardware optimization: microphone, speaker, and camera. These hardwares are the most important components involved in streaming and communication. So the first step is to assign the hardware in the application as shown in the red frames in the pictures. Then we can enable the optimization effects.
We need to assign the hardware for optimization as shown above. Here is an example for microphone. The speakers and camera are under different tabs in the interface.
After assigning the hardware, we can enable the optimization effects to see if the record sample quality should be improved or not.
We can see if the Camera effects are applied or not in preview window.
NVIDIA Studio Broadcast Features Intro
NVIDIA provide a series of AI effects to help improve your quality of communication and streaming. You are just a few clicks away from finish setting up. Let’s go!
1. Noise and Echo Removal
After COVID-19, the way people live and engage with one another changed a lot, including Working from Home. Many people may encounter background noises interrupting work while at home. But with NVIDIA Studio Broadcast, you only need to switch on noise removal or room echo removal. Then the AI technology will help create the best audio quality when you listen to or speak with people.
Remember that the effects need to be switched on to activate, and you can adjust the strength of improvement depending on your demand. However, noise removal and room echo removal strength are synced together and cannot be adjusted separately.
After applying the effects, we can verify the results by recording the sound.
You can also listen to the sound after the effects have been applied.
2. Virtual Background
When you stream, do you find it difficult to set up a virtual background? Building a green screen is also complicated and a big hassle. With NVIDIA Studio Broadcast, we can open the effects list to choose what kind of video effects we want after assigning the camera. It doesn’t need a green screen or any software installation. You can check the AI effects shown below for reference.
- Background Blur
We can blur the background to let the audiences focus more on you, and ignore other unnecessary objects.
- Background Replacement
We can replace the background with another picture or video without a green screen.
- Background removal
Similar to background blur, but even more focused on the main character.
3. Video noise removal
When stream in a dark environment, the video noise removal can help make the image clearer.
4. Auto Frame
It is a very cool function to have the camera always focus on you. When streaming, we may move away from the center of the screen. Enable Auto Frame and the camera will follow your position and make sure you are in the center of camera.
5. Eye contact
This is an assistance tool for presentations or seminars. With this tool we can maintain eye contact while reading notes.
NVIDIA Studio Broadcast Supported Platforms
Most users use Twitch or OBS to help with streaming and use Skype or Microsoft Teams to communicate. How can I apply those AI effects to these applications? When you enable NVIDIA Studio Broadcast AI functions, we only need to adjust the audio and video devices to “NVIDIA Broadcast” and then the effects will be applied. Shown below is an example of when we use Skype for communication.
Open settings and then navigate to the audio & video page, and change the camera and microphone to “NVIDIA broadcast”. Currently, NVIDIA Broadcast is supported on Discord, OBS Studio, Streamlabs, XSplit Broadcaster, Gamecaster, Twitch Studio, WebEx, Zoom, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Skype, and Google Chrome. You can apply the AI effects within these software or platforms.
